Wigan Life Centre North and Leigh Life Centre, with the requirement to travel to various venues across the borough as needed

Salary: Grade 6 – 7 positions available:

2 x 37 hours (Salary from and to: £28,624 to £31,586)

2 x 29.6 hours (Salary from and to: £22,899 to £25,268)

2 x 25 hours (Salary from and to: £19,340 to £21,341)

1 x 18.5 hours (Salary from and to: £14,312 to £15,793)

Your role:

Your role will be to support our data led approach to maximise income and welfare rights and advice and referrals for support from professionals and the borough’s residents, using the most appropriate contact channels, like face to face, phones, letters, emails and text messaging.

You will provide a comprehensive, efficient, and effective, face to face provision, including Welfare Support, Council Tax, Blue Badges, and general Housing advice delivering first point of contact resolution.

You will provide a frontline service to residents who may be vulnerable individuals with complex needs that are of a sensitive nature.

You will assess, calculate, decide and award claims including, but not exclusively, Council Tax Reduction, Discretionary Housing Payments and Discount and Exemptions, supporting residents to complete forms for Housing Benefit and associated processes, Blue Badges and any other entitlement they may have.

You will support the facilitation of income maximisation activities in community and local authority venues, working with partner organisations to improve customer experience and outcomes for them.

About you:

You will be highly motivated and enthusiastic with experience of working in a fast-paced environment, meeting a variety of demands whilst maintaining quality and accuracy.

You will be customer focused and intensely keen to make a positive difference to the team. You will be a great communicator who is used to dealing with a range of people at all levels both internally and externally.

You will have excellent I.T. skills, with experience of inputting and extracting data from systems and an ability to utilise functionality to enhance the customer experience.
