At our last inspection (February 2025), Ofsted said:
Pupils love attending this school. Their smiles fill the corridors with joy. From when they arrive in Year 7, until they leave the sixth form, pupils are supported and cared for by staff who understand their varied needs and abilities exceptionally well. Pupils thrive here.

We are looking for teachers who:
• Are passionate about teaching in a special needs setting
• Have experience of working with students with SLD, complex needs and autism, or a particular interest in working in these areas
• Will inspire students to learn
• Have outstanding communication and teamwork skills
• Are creative, innovative and dynamic
• Are committed to excellence
• Have the vision, skills and energy to provide the best opportunity for every student within our school

Brentwood is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment. The post you have applied for is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and other relevant checks with statutory bodies.

Class teachers are expected to teach a range of subjects across the curriculum, so we are interested in hearing from primary school teachers as well as secondary teachers with an interest in SEN.

We are particularly interested in hearing from teachers who have experience of teaching students with PMLD and/or complex behavioural and sensory needs.

We welcome applications from ECTs and we provide full ECTE support.

We provide a comprehensive induction programme and ongoing CPD for all staff.

We are a warm and friendly school and value the health and wellbeing of our staff.

'The leadership and management provide a supportive and flexible environment where staff are listened to in order to ensure that staff's wellbeing is a priority while also making sure the quality-of-service provision to students is not compromised in anyway.' (School Wellbeing Support Advisor)

Application forms and details are available from the school website.

Please contact Jane Roberts (Deputy Headteacher) if you would like to discuss the role and/or make arrangements to visit the school.
