About us

This is a fantastic time to join ‘Team Salford.’ The city is being transformed through unprecedented levels of development, investment, and business growth, and this trajectory is set to continue. We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Group Leader within our Building Control service to enable us to continue to build on our success and bring new experience, knowledge, and ideas into the team.

About the Role

As Building Control Team Leader, you will support the Senior Building Control Service Lead in managing, supervising and mentoring an established team of registered inspectors while handling your own Building Regulation casework.

Ideally Class 3 registered, you should have experience with higher-risk buildings and working as part of multi-disciplinary teams lead by the Building Safety Regulator. Key responsibilities will also include dealing with alleged unauthorised work, enforcement, contravention resolution, dangerous buildings investigations, sports ground safety, and licensing. Participation in the out-of-hours call-out service is also required (with additional payment).

You will help structure service delivery, drive service improvements, and be part of a collaborative and innovative team that values knowledge-sharing and professional development.

About you –

We are seeking a talented Team Leader to work alongside the Building Control Service Lead, Registered Building Inspectors, and dedicated technical support staff to manage a diverse Building Control service.

You must have extensive experience in applying Building Regulations across all building types, including complex and high-rise developments. A detailed understanding of current and emerging legislation is essential. Ideally, you will be Class 3 registered, degree qualified, and a full member of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE).

You will be able to prioritise and manage a varied workload, have strong communication skills, and a problem-solving mindset. You should demonstrate a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes and adapting to challenges effectively.
