Note: As part of the interview process, all applicants will be assessed on the following:
- Jump/dive into deep water.
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back
- In deep Water, tread water for 30 seconds.
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool
- Climb out unaided without ladders/steps and where pool design permits.
Note: Successful candidates who do not hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) must be available to attend an NPLQ course / assessment on the following 6 consecutive dates:
Tuesday 26th - 31st May 2026 - 8:30am – 5:30pm at Broughton Leisure Centre
The content of the course will be a mixture of skills and theoretical knowledge in both a classroom and pool side setting.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check – currently £49.50. The payment will be taken back over two payments directly from the first two months salary payments. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment £49.50.
