We’re looking for a Senior Policy Officer – Night Time Economy to support the development and delivery of policy and programmes that help create safe, inclusive and thriving night time economies across the city-region.
You’ll work with local authorities, businesses, cultural organisations and national partners to support delivery of the Night Time Economy Strategy and wider Greater Manchester Strategy priorities.
Your role
As part of the Culture, Creative Industries, NTE and Music team, you’ll work across a dynamic and high-profile portfolio. This role combines policy, delivery, research and stakeholder engagement, offering the opportunity to influence how the night time economy develops across Greater Manchester.
You will:
- Support the development and delivery of night time economy policy and programmes, aligned to the Greater Manchester Strategy and place-based priorities.
- Work with the Principal, Night Time Economy to develop and implement the Night Time Economy Strategy, contributing to policy, research and programme activity.
- Undertake research and analysis, building a strong evidence base to inform policy development and programme design.
- Support delivery of initiatives across Greater Manchester, working with local authorities, businesses and partners to ensure coordinated activity.
- Coordinate governance and partnership activity, including preparing reports, briefings and policy materials.
- Support stakeholder engagement, working across hospitality, culture, transport and safety partners.
- Contribute to funding proposals and consultation responses.
- Act as a key point of contact within the team for night time economy policy work, supporting communication and information sharing.
About you
You’ll be confident working across policy and delivery, and comfortable managing a range of priorities in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in policy, programme delivery or research, ideally within culture, hospitality, the night time economy or a related field.
- An understanding of the night time economy, including its links to employment, safety, transport and town centre vitality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use evidence to shape policy and programmes.
- Excellent written communication skills, including producing clear reports, briefings and papers.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate activity across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Good relationship-building and influencing skills, with experience working collaboratively across sectors.
- A commitment to inclusion and safety, supporting the development of accessible and welcoming night time economies.
We recognise that no candidate will meet every requirement — we’re looking for someone with the right skills, mindset and potential to grow in the role.
