Business Support (Safeguarding Unit)

We are looking for a full-time Business Support Officer to join our Safeguarding Unit, providing essential administrative support to the front-line teams based at 6 Knowsley Place, Bury.

The Safeguarding Unit focuses on child safety and well-being by protecting those children and young people identified to be at risk of suffering harm by bringing together all professionals working with a family in one team – including children’s social workers, health and education professionals and the police to ensure the best outcomes for vulnerable children.

The core function of this role is to provide high quality and accurate minutes of our Child Protection conferences - meetings with the children, young people and their families and the multi-agency team of professionals working with them.

A typical day might include:

  • Meeting and greeting families and professionals at the start of each conference.
  • Attending the child protection conference, capturing what was said and then providing comprehensive, high quality and accurate minutes for review by the Chair of the meeting
  • Completion of pre and post conference tasks which include preparing documentation, liaising with professionals, uploading and updating data, formalising the next conference, maintaining electronic folders.
  • Management of shared team inboxes – all requests for support from our teams come to this inbox, so it is essential that it is monitored constantly, and urgent tasks are dealt with quickly.
  • Answering phone calls from colleagues, service users or other professionals. Some calls we can answer and help with ourselves, others may need signposting elsewhere.
  • Book interpreters as required.
  • Manage conference schedules using Microsoft Teams, Outlook and excel.
  • Prepare and distribute case conference invitations and minutes in accordance with statutory timescales.
  • Manage, access and update the Children’s Care system (LCS)
  • Supporting the IRO and Team Manager as and when required.
